Cooperation of Pro bono alliance with Ombudsman shows first signs of success

3. 7. 2013

The cooperation between the Pro bono alliance and the Public Defender of Rights resulted in two successful cases concerning discrimination. Both were concluded by an out-of-court settlement and the satisfaction of the claim of discrimination victims. The first case concerned discrimination on grounds of disability in public transport; in the second case the victim has been discriminated on the ground of age in the access to employment.

More information about both cases can be found on the Ombudsman's website.

In 2012 the Defender signed an agreement with Pro bono alliance, which associates attorneys providing pro bono services. In the Czech Republic, the legislation still lacks on free legal aid, an agreement of this kind is an important moment in the battle against discrimination. Simultaneously, a suitable instrument for strategic litigation was created.
